plus Forest Lodge Garden Centre.
The park itself consists of 26 acres of aviaries in
beautifully landscaped and
colourful gardens. Special Half Term and Christmas events, visit Santa's
Grotto at Birdworld. Birds of Prey

feeding round to feed the Birds of Prey, if a little gruesome as they are fed
dead chicks. The tour gives a fascinating insight into the various Birds of Prey
to be found at Birdworld. Penguin feeding. One of the most popular
events, see the penguins being fed by a keeper and learn all about them. Feeding
presentations every day at 11.30 and 3.30. You can even feed the penguins
yourself. Please phone 01420 22992 to book (we regret bookings cannot be made on

The Hawk Conservancy and Country Park, Weyhill, Near Andover
Hampshire. SP11 8DY

4 MILES WEST OF ANDOVER ON THE A303.
We have more than100 birds resident at the Hawk Conservancy Trust and this
figure will rise throughout the year as injured birds are brought to us for
rehabilitation by the Police, RSPCA, and the general public.
During your visit you will see many birds of prey, not only native to this
country but also from abroad - ranging from the diminutive Pigmy Owl to the
enormous Andean Condor. Some of the species are depleted or endangered and we
are working to breed them in captivity to safeguard their survival and so avoid
the threat of extinction.

Staff from two conservation charities have joined forces in
an effort to promote the Great Bustard, the world’s heaviest flying bird, and
the project to reintroduce the species back into the UK, by building the UK’s
only public Great Bustard aviary.
The aviary is located at the award-winning Hawk Conservancy
Trust, near Andover, Hampshire, which has a thriving visitor centre. More than
50,000 visitors a year are expected to see the two Great Bustards, named Jean
Claude and Fergus, who are on loan from the Great Bustard Group.
David Waters, Director of the Great Bustard Group, said ‘by
building this aviary we are aiming to increase people’s awareness of the species
and of our work to reintroduce the Bustards onto Salisbury Plain. Education is a
significant part of our project and the aviary will facilitate this.’
The aviary was launched on Monday 20th April 2009 by Hawk
Conservancy Trustee and zoologist, Chris Packham who was promptly upstaged by
one of the Great Bustards as it began to display to the assembled supporters of
both charities. Amongst general amusement the aviary was officially opened.
Ashley Smith, Chief Executive of the Hawk Conservancy
Trust, said ‘We are pleased to be working with the Great Bustard Group and
helping to support this worthwhile project by providing the visitor centre
hosting that will enable people to experience a unique encounter with a
Great Bustard!’
We hope you will watch the flying displays throughout the day and see the
raptors at their best, whether it is in the Carousel of Kites, and soaring
Eagles and vultures in the Valley of the Eagles in Reg's Meadow ( 2pm) or the
beautiful Barn Owls as they fly from a nesting box.(noon)
More than 100 Birds of Prey. 15 acres of woodland gardens. Reg's wild flower
downland meadow (7 acres). Flying demonstrations at noon. 2pm and 3.30pm all
different.
Afternoon Red Kite and heron feed. Education centre. Wild bird hide and special
children's hides. Dragonfly pond. Nature trails. Hold a bird of prey. Adults can
